SYFY Live From Comic-Con
SYFY
TV Series
I had the wonderful opportunity to direct cold open sketches for SYFY Live from Comic-Con, a late-night talk show broadcast live from San Diego and hosted by self-professed nerd Zachary Levi (DC’s Shazam). One of our standout sketches involved Zach taking a ride-share with an incredibly peculiar fan.
Filming this sketch was a thrill, and my experience directing for Jimmy Kimmel Live came to play here as we shot this sketch in the morning, unpermitted, on the streets of San Diego and the sketch aired live to tape that evening. Despite the time constraints, Zach’s energy, and willingness to poke fun at himself, brought an irreverent tone to the sketch and created an environment where the show and its guests didn’t take themselves too seriously. It was a comic convention after all.
